The Chongqing Major offered us esports fans one week of excitement! 16 super teams from across the globe completed in China for the title of the season. It was definitely a league to be remembered when the old rivals Team Secret and Virtus.pro faced off yet again in the finale. Here’s a quick recap of what happened.
The Chongqing Major was the second Major of the 2018/19 season for StarLadder. The prize pool was USD $1M and Pro Circuit Points (PCP) 15,000 in total.
The event was held at BLOOMAGE Cultural and Sports Center in Banan, Chongqing, which was officially opened in September last year. The comprehensive stadium has a maximum capacity of 16,000 people.
The Final Game Team Secret wanted the win to get revenge after losing to VP in the finals at Kuala Lumpur Major. Eventually, Team Secret came out victorious with a 3-1 score against VP, winning the Chongqing Major title and successfully claimed the $350,000 top prize as well as 4,950 DPC points that go with it.

The playoffs were held from 21 to 27 January but only the final 3 days were open to the live crowd.
Majors points scale linearly with total prize pools above USD $1M.
89 heroes (around 76%) of the overall hero pool were contested. 84 heroes were picked across 96 games in this Major.
Majors are worth 15000 Dota Pro Circuit points and Minors are worth 500 points in 2018/19 season.
The top twelve teams with the highest Dota Pro Circuit point totals will receive direct invites to The International 2019.
Both VP’s and Team Secret are qualified to for The International 2019. Team Secret qualifies for The International 2019 with this win while VP was already qualified with their win in the Kuala Lumpur Major.
VP and Team Secret are now tied on the Dota Pro Circuit 2018-19 Rankings with 7,950 points each with a solid lead. Evil Geniuses was ranked the third with 4,200 points.
